Registration is underway for fall sports and activities sponsored by the South Orange Department of Recreation & Cultural Affairs. A complete listing, program details and registration information are available at The Baird or online HERE.

Fall Baseball
Fall Baseball is an instructional program for children in grades 1-6.
Grades 1-2: Players meet five Mondays beginning Sept. 124:00-5:00 pm or 5:15-6:15 pm. Fee: $80
Grades 3-6: Players meet twice a week beginning the week of Sept. 12. Small group practices on Wednesday or Thursday and instructional games on Saturdays. Fee: $95

Basketball at the Baird
The Village of South Orange and the South Mountain YMCA have teamed up to provide supervision, programming and fun on the outdoor basketball courts at the Baird throughout the week.

Supervised Open Court Play
Experienced members of the YMCA basketball coaching staff will monitor and program basketball activities for various age groups through mid-October Thursdays and Fridays, 4:00 pm until dark and Saturdays and Sundays, 12:00 noon until dark.

Skills and Drills for Grades 1-4
This program for boys and girls meets six Saturday mornings beginning Sept. 17 on the outdoor courts at the Baird. Grades 1-2, 9:45-10:45 and grades 3-4, 11am-12pm. Fee: $60.

Basketball programs will be offered by the YMCA on the Baird courts for girls and boys in grades 5 through 8. For details and registration information contact the South Mountain YMCA at (973) 762-4145 or at www.smountainymca.org.

Tae Kwon Do for Children Ages 5-12
Instructor Tom Shaheen teaches Tae Kwon Do class at the Baird. Tae Kwon Do includes practical self-defense, discipline and body conditioning to gain self-confidence and reduce stress.
Thursdays beginning Sept. 22. Beginners at 4:30 pm and Advanced Students at 5:30 pm. Fee: $110 for 10 sessions.

Tennis Lessons
Tennis clinics and instruction are offered by the US Sports Institute on the Baird courts for children and adults, with multiple sessions in each age/skill category. Details and registration information are available on the USSI website at www.USSportsInstitute.com or by phone at(866) 345-BALL.
