Maplewood Mayor Vic DeLuca has something in common with Mets pitcher Jason deGrom — and it’s not just their shared love for the Citi Field home team.

Check out these pictures, recently posted to DeLuca’s Facebook page:

Truth be told, deGrom’s photo is slightly more recent: DeLuca’s photo is from his college yearbook in 1973.

But with the Mets winning the NLCS in a laugher last night in Chicago, Mr. Mayor and Mr. Met have much to celebrate and are surely hoping and praying that the DeLuca and deGrom dopplegangers have all their dreams come true in the World Series.

Speaking of the World Series, it’s scheduled to begin Tuesday, Oct. 27 at Citi Field; time to be announced. Game 2 will also take place at Citi Field, on Wednesday, October 28. The Mets will face either the Kansas City Royals or the Toronto Blue Jays (KC currently leads the ALCS 3-2).

Finally, we can’t resist basking in the NLCS glory a bit longer with a repost of this favorite headline from the Chicago Tribune last night: “deGrom was about to be deStroyed, but Cubs deFaulted to deCrepit ways.”
