Supt. of Schools Jason Bing met with the settlement monitor on August 13; in an interview last month, Bing noted that he had reviewed the recommendations and had worked with Dr. Edward Fergus previously.

Black Parents Workshop and Supt. Jason Bing will meet with Justice John E. Wallace on August 13. Meanwhile, BOE 2nd VP Nubia Wilson expressed disappointment with the lack of specifics and action plans in a July presentation.

Parents signed a letter that asserts BPW’s “positions are dangerous, and their tactics seek to destroy our community rather than build it.” BPW founder decried “mischaracterizations and blatantly false statements” and says “our track record on behalf of Black students…is clear.”

Attorney says he has been conducting his own investigation into an incident between Frank Sanchez and a student and will be delivering the results to the prosecutor’s office shortly.

“I hope that the district reviews this in great detail,” said Board 2nd VP Nubia DuVall Wilson. “The importance of this policy with district personnel and the appropriate state-mandated steps that personnel must take if or when they believe a student has experienced abuse by a staff member. … It helps give the voiceless safety and support.”

As Frank Sanchez appeared in court on Tuesday, many community members flooded the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office with phone calls supporting him.
