To the Editor:

On May 12, South Orange will have the opportunity to elect its next Village President. As a lifelong resident of South Orange, I have seen many different administrations come and go, and I’ve worked hard over the years to support the people I saw as the best candidates for the job. Through all of those elections, though, I can say unequivocally that Sheena Collum is by far the most uniquely qualified, knowledgeable, hard working and dedicated candidate for Village President I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with.

As a Seton Hall graduate, I’m particularly interested in how she’s managed to begin to bridge the gap between our community and a major institution that calls South Orange home. In the past couple years alone, we’ve seen unprecedented amounts of student volunteers participate in the civic life of our community and new partnerships such as the one she facilitated with the Stillman School of Business for Irvington Avenue. I know it’s just the beginning of building a stronger town and gown relationship. Sheena often speaks about the various opportunities for both entities including facilities, transportation, public safety and leveraging student learning activities as projects that can benefit the community.

I am confident that with Sheena Collum, we’ll be entering a new era of partnerships and collaboration that bring Seton Hall and South Orange together.

Every vote counts and I urge everyone to get to the polls to support Sheena Collum by voting Row B.
