Maplewood Township has been officially notified that Village Keepers, Inc., is dropping its civil suit against the township, the Maplewood Village Alliance and the developer for the Post Office site.

The notice of dismissal, from the Village Keepers’ attorney Richard S. Schkolnick of the Summit, NJ firm Brown Moskowitz & Kallen, was filed in the Superior Court of New Jersey on July 20, according to township counsel Roger Desiderio. The township received a copy of the letter Monday, said Desiderio.

Village Keepers board members announced on its website on July 6 that it had dropped the litigation because, they said, the township agreed to “comply” with the complaint. Mayor Vic DeLuca said then the township had not been notified the suit was dropped; the township has not officially commented on the suit’s dismissal.
