Earlier this month we told you about a strong gas odor reported by residents in the area of Flood’s Hill near Meadowbrook Park in South Orange. South Orange officials at the time they had no indication of any sewer gas escape or leak, although there is a gas main in the area and numerous leaks have previously been reported in that area and around the Village.

The Village was in contact with PSEG, which began working to remediate the situation.

The Village Green recently followed up with Village officials on the situation. Trustee Walter Clarke who chairs the Public Works & Infrastructure Committee, responded Monday with the following statement from Everton Scott, Senior Public Affairs Manager at PSEG:

“We have been working in three separate areas near that park. We cleared the leak on Meadowbrook last week. We have a crew…working on Clark Street. We have a few more repairs to make here to close this leak. We had our contractor on Mead as well, and they are just about done. They need to do some more minor repairs in the park. We will have our crew and the contractor in this area until we are completed.”
