Maplewood celebrated the grand re-opening of its new and expanded skate park in Maplecrest Park on Friday, August 14 with a DJ, free pizza and light refreshments.
Recreation and Cultural Affairs Director Keith Knudsen was on hand to distribute the slices. Knudsen explained earlier this summer that the improved skate park is now doubled in size, and wooden ramps and asphalt have been replaced with concrete — to improve skateboarding and to muffle sound.
The $135,000 cost of the construction is being paid for through the Township’s Open Space Trust Fund.
