As New Jersey American Water Company (NJAWC) repair work commences on Gregory Avenue in West Orange, Wyoming Avenue in South Orange will remain open to local traffic.

Richard G. Barnes, External Affairs Manager of NJAWC, confirmed to The Village Green that although Wyoming will be closed to thru traffic — and street closures will lead to detours for South Orange drivers — local residents will still be able to use the road.

The repairs will continue through the end of October.

NJAWC will be cleaning and lining a 16-inch diameter water transmission main located on Gregory Avenue from Northfield Avenue south to Luddington Road at the South Orange border. The work will be conducted on weekdays between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. During that time, Gregory Avenue will be closed to thru traffic from Northfield Avenue in West Orange to South Orange Avenue in South Orange.

There will be two detours: one along Northfield Avenue, Rollinson Street, South Valley Road in West Orange, and Ridgewood Road and South Orange Avenue to Wyoming Avenue in South Orange. The second will be along Northfield Avenue, Walker Road, South Valley Road in West Orange, and Ridgewood Road and South Orange Avenue in South Orange.
