Maplewood Lacrosse Club MLC Team 2020

The Maplewood Lacrosse Club 8th grade team — Team 2020 — will be playing for the NJ AA State Championship against Tewksbury in Towaco, NJ on Friday, June 3.

The 5th-seeded Team 2020 fought its way into the final with a victory over 4th seed Caldwell (6-5) on Tuesday, May 31, followed by a nail-biting 9-7 win over the #1 seed Kinnelon on Wednesday, June 1.

MLC alums Jules Heningburg, Dylan Heningburg, Gus Heningburg, Nate Hill and Mike Terry have been helping Coach Joe Gillette and Assistant Coaches Steve O’Mara, Will Simmons, John Weeda and Art Hoffmann to train and coach the team through the playoffs — and the added knowledge is paying off.

The final takes place at Camp Dawson, 80 Jacksonville Rd, Towaco, at 8 p.m., Friday, June 3.

Come out on Friday night, show your South Orange-Maplewood pride and support these boys as they close out their careers with the club.

The Maplewood Lacrosse Club, established in 1957, is comprised of players from South Orange and Maplewood. Find out more about MLC here: maplewoodlacrosseclub.com.
