Angelo Vayas, longtime Maplewood resident and owner of the Village Trattoria restaurants, passed away Sunday night after a battle with brain cancer.
The couple appeared on the Dr. Oz show last December to discuss Angelo’s battle with a rare form of brain cancer called Glioblastoma Multiforme, or GBM, which he was diagnosed with in August 2013. He went through surgery, chemotherapy and radiation to combat the aggressive tumor.
“I love him and I will love him forever, and we’re going to fight through this together,” Mary said on the show.
