Maplewood invites you to an All Day Fun-filled Fourth of July — truly a full day of family fun. This year’s celebration will be bigger and better with the addition of new initiatives, the return of events and attractions introduced last year, and perennial 4th of July favorites. From the 5K Run, Kids’ Bikes, Etc. Parade, and on throughout a full day of festivities in Memorial Park, with food vendors, events tent, two music stages, boardwalk games, face painting, car show, the Zerbini Family Circus, and much more. And Independence Day in Maplewood wouldn’t be complete without culminating in our always spectacular fireworks finale. Be sure to visit www.maplewoodcivic.org for details.
Buy your wristbands early and save. Wristbands are required for festival admission. They are available online (www.maplewoodcivic.org) and at entrance gates on July 4th. General admission wristbands include All-day Field Access, Concerts, Maplewood’s second 4th of July Car Show, and our perennial 4th of July favorites: Kids’ Dashes & Relays, CHS Robotics Expo, Art Project, Ice Cream and other Eating Contests, Tennis and other Athletic Contests, Baking Contest, Karaoke, Pet Awards Show, Live Music, Talent Showcase and Fireworks. Early-bird, group discounts and discounted Circus passes are also available.

7:30 a.m. 5K RUN, Start on Dunnell Street near Civic House. 7 am registration.
8 a.m. OPENING CEREMONIES at Ricalton Square
8:15 a.m. KIDS’ BIKES, ETC. PARADE steps off from Ricalton Sq.
9:00 a.m. KIDS’ RACES Athletic field south of Oakview Ave. – Activities Signup Form signed by parent or guardian – available at www.maplewoodcivic.com and at signup tent on July 4th.
10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. CAR SHOW
10 a.m. ART PROJECT
Big Events Tent: CHS ROBOTICS CLUB, ICE CREAM EATING CONTESTS, KARAOKE, PET AWARDS SHOW (times to be posted on website), and more!
11 a.m. TENNIS CONTESTS at Civic House tennis courts
11:30 a.m. BAKING CONTEST – entries need to be at Big Events Tent 9 – 9:30 a.m.
1 p.m. & 3:30 p.m. & 6 p.m. Zerbini FAMILY CIRCUS under the Big Top in Athletic field NORTH of Oakview. Rain or Shine.
2 p.m. LIVE MUSIC on two stages begins; performances until Fireworks.
9:15 p.m. (approx.) FIREWORKS. Parental discretion advised for small children; pets are not appropriate on field for fireworks.
Wristbands will be required for entry beginning at 10am. These can be purchased online until July 3rd or on July 4th at 5 Entrance gates located around the north and south fields of Memorial Park. Many activities are included with your wristband purchase, such as our car show, all-day concert stage, fireworks, face painting, competitive eating contests, karaoke, be-your-own-DJ, and much more. Other activities such as carnival games and amusements will be available for purchase on-site! All tickets will be full price at the gate on July 4. Buy-2-get-1-free deals are available online ahead of the event. Buy in advance for great prices and to guarantee your circus time! All circus tickets include FREE access to fireworks, entertainment and the car show!
Transportation/parking options Limited street parking surrounding Memorial Park. However, the park is adjacent to the Maplewood NJ Transit train station, and a free Jitney service will be running from the South Orange NJ Transit train station (schedule to be posted closer to the event).
Food and concession options at the event The entertainment area will feature a large concession area with a variety of food vendors, and several Maplewood Village businesses will be open that day as well. No alcoholic beverages are allowed in Memorial Park.

Alcoholic beverages are not permitted in Maplewood parks.
The Fourth of July Committee has gone all-out to make the day age-friendly. In addition to many events, music and food vendors:
- Seniors with a Classic Card or who apply for one at entry will get half-price tickets.
- Golf cart service from Baker Street drop-off point to points within the park
- Enjoy the day at the hospitality tent
- Enjoy lawn games, board games
- Access to the air-conditioned Civic House (near tennis courts) restrooms and games
- Come compete in the baking contest (or come get samples of the entries). Entries need to be at contest tent between 9:00 & 9:30am.
South Orange residents – Jitney transportation provided from SOPAC parking lot to Memorial Park 10am-10pm.
Maplewood Seniors – The regular Senior Bus will be available between 9am and 5pm. Call (973) 763-0750 to schedule a pick up by noon on Monday, July 3. Pick-up service starts on the hour, return service from Baker St. entrance on the half hour.
Parking for Disabled Persons 3 locations: Dunnell St between Oakland Rd and Oakview Ave; Baker St. near Baker Entrance Gate; and parking lot behind Town Hall on Valley St.
