From Maplewood Township:
Maplewood Avenue Paver Project Update – November 2, 2018
Week of November 5If you have seen the paving project work on Maplewood Avenue, we hope you agree it looks fabulous! Here’s a quick update on what to expect next week:Work at the intersection of Durand Road should be completed by Tuesday.
On Highland Avenue, the curbing bump out will be constructed starting Monday or Tuesday. The southbound lane of Maplewood Avenue MAY have to be closed during curb installation. The concrete base will be poured at Highland Avenue the middle of the week, and finally the pavers will be installed by the end of the week.
The intersection of Baker Street along the Belmont building will resume Tuesday or Wednesday and be finished by Friday.
At the same time, and if all goes well, the work at the intersection of Lenox Avenue and the curb island adjacent to the NJT lot along Maplewood Avenue may also be in the works.
The Township’s Engineering Department reports that the work is being done extremely well and quickly. We hope that those of you who have had the opportunity to check out the work like what you see!
The Maplewood Police Department (MPD) will continue to assist in any pedestrian/vehicular detours as needed during the project, which the Township has instructed the contractor must be kept at a minimum. The MPD will send out alerts regarding street closures and/or detours if they are necessary to ensure public safety.
Remember that the project will be suspended on November 16 until after the New Year to allow for our usual village holiday festivities and shopping period!
The Township is committed to minimizing inconvenience to the public and merchants during this project, and will continue to provide weekly updates on the Township website, email blasts, Twitter and via the Maplewood Construction News Facebook page.
Please note that while the Township makes best efforts to publicize an accurate work schedule, as relayed to us by the contractor, weather and the number of workers assigned to each crew impacts progress.
If you have questions or concerns about the project, contact the Maplewood Business Administrator, Sonia Alves-Viveiros, at (973) 762-8120, ext. 2000, or [email protected].
