SUMMIT, NJ, January 6, 2017 – Summit Downtown, Inc. (SDI) is excited to announce that Nancy Adams has been named the next Executive Director of the organization. A search committee comprised of SDI trustees, business owners, and the mayor was formed to facilitate the process and interview candidates.

Nancy Adams is a nationally certified Main Street Coordinator with over 20 years of experience working with downtowns. She has worked with many New Jersey downtown districts, and has served as the executive director of several Special/Business Improvement Districts, including South Orange and Red Bank. In 2006, she founded Directions Downtown, LLC, a successful professional consulting firm focused on downtown management, revitalization and redevelopment; she continues to serve as the firm’s president. Nancy also has City Government experience and is currently the Deputy Mayor of Maplewood, her home town.

“I am excited to work in downtown Summit, a downtown not far from home that I’ve patronized many times over the 27 years I’ve lived in Maplewood,” Ms. Adams said. “I look forward to meeting all the stakeholders and advancing the work of the organization to best serve all of downtown Summit.”

“Nancy is a highly qualified downtown professional, and SDI is lucky to have her,” said Bob Conway, SDI trustee and co-chair of the search committee. “She brings valuable expertise and vision to Summit that will benefit the organization and downtown as a whole.”

Nancy begins work on January 16, 2017. Current SDI director of over ten years, Marin Mixon, will stay on during the transition. Marin’s last day at SDI will be January 31, 2017.
