The Maplewood Garden Club is here to remind readers that gardening does not go away just because winter is coming.

On Monday, November 3, the club will present a program on herbal allies for the cold and flu season at 7:30 p.m. at the Maplewood Memorial Library, 51 Baker St., Maplewood. All are welcome.

The meeting features New Jersey-based farmer, beekeeper and forager Megan Paska, who will discuss the use and preparation of wild and cultivated herbs for wellness. Paska operates a one-acre market garden which adjoins a flock of 75 egg-laying hens in addition to dairy goats, rabbits, and a few honeybee hives. She has taught children and adults at venues such as the New York Botanical Gardens and at her farm, which has fed nearly 40 families. Megan is the author of The Rooftop Beekeeper: A Scrappy Guide to Keeping Urban Honeybees (Chronicle Books, 2014). To find out more about Megan, visit her website at www.megpaska.com.
