Maplewood Library Thanks VFW Post 10120 for $5K Donation to Expansion Project

From Maplewood Memorial Library:On January 16, Maplewood Library held a reception honoring VFW Post 10120, in appreciation of a generous donation they recently made to the library. Six of Maplewood’s veterans were on hand for the celebration. Library Director Sarah Lester read letters from a 1956 Memory Book, in which donors recalled their lost loved ones and expressed their support and passion for the library. A plaque in the library’s lobby commemorates Maplewoodians who lost their lives in World War I, World War II, and the Korean and Vietnam Wars.

Library Foundation President Ben Cohen and Mayor Vic DeLuca also spoke, expressing their appreciation for the Veterans’ service and their donation. Last year, the post celebrated 50 years of serving local veterans, their families and the community. Some Vets shared personal stories with attendees.

The donated funds will be used for the Library Foundation’s Capital Campaign for building a 21st Century library.
