Editor’s Note:

On June 6, 2018, Maplewood Township had the four crosswalks at Valley Street and Oakview Avenue — near Town Hall — permanently striped in the original rainbow eight colors of Gilbert Baker (the creator of the Pride Flag).

“This permanent symbol celebrates and honors our great diversity and inclusion, and it marks Maplewood yet again as one of the most welcoming and progressive communities throughout New Jersey,” read a release from the Township announcing the official unveiling of the crosswalks.
