Looking for some great stocking stuffers and charming gifts with local and historic flare?

Check out the Country Store at Durand-Hedden House at 523 Ridgewood Road in Maplewood, open Saturdays and Sundays from 12-5 p.m.

“We have great last minute gifts for everyone,” said Maria Morrison Heningburg, who helps staff the store (her daughter Adrian was working the counter when we dropped by). “There has been a huge run on our Vintage 1931 Maplewood Map as well as the original 1910 Chocolate Fudge Sauce also known as the Grunings Fudge Sauce.
New in stock are handmade rag dolls and hand-crocheted stuffed animals.”

The store also sells New Jersey honey, historic toys, paper dolls and coloring books, handmade candles, books on local history, books written by local authors, Christmas tree ornaments and more.

And don’t forget to shop the Country Store after the holidays: Heningburg explained that the store is open every weekend until the summer when both Durand-Hedden House and the Country Store are closed for the season.
