Roughly 60 people gathered at Ricalton Square in Maplewood Village Tuesday night for the annual lighting of the Hanukkah menorah.

The message from Maplewood Jewish Center Congregation Beth Ephraim’s Rabbi Bogomilsky was, “Illuminate the night. Spread the light.” There were prayers and blessings in Hebrew, and participants received chocolate gelt, latkes and glow sticks.

Mayor Vic DeLuca was on hand to help light the menorah, and Deputy Mayor Kathleen Leventhal also was at the event.
