From your local Complete Count volunteers:

The nation-wide volunteer effort to ensure an accurate count of every person living in the United States is growing. In South Orange, local Complete Count Committee volunteers will host a January 29 presentation and Q&A at the SOPAC Loft from 7:30-9pm. Experts from the U.S. Census Bureau will discuss topics including data security, how to complete the form and why it’s essential to our community that everyone be counted.

Census partnership specialist Barbara Brown will explain the 2020 Census process and walk attendees through the form. David Kraiker, a South Orange resident and data dissemination specialist with the Bureau, will address how Census data is used to draw legislative districts, determine policy and direct federal and state funding for projects such as transportation infrastructure. Kraiker will also talk about improving our local response rates.

Residents who want to help ensure a complete count in South Orange should attend, along with those who have questions or concerns about the Census form and anyone over 18 who is interested in working as a paid, part-time Census taker.

RVSP through Eventbrite.com is encouraged (search for “2020 census overview”). Questions about the meeting can be directed to 973-378-7715. For questions about the Census prior to the meeting, go to 2020census.gov. For information on becoming a paid Census Taker, go to 2020census.gov/jobs.
