Woman Robbed of Purse Saturday Night on Springfield Ave

A 26-year-old woman was robbed of her purse around 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 29 on Springfield Avenue in Maplewood.

The woman was walking west on Springfield Avenue away from Boyden Avenue when she noticed a man in a black hooded sweatshirt with a scarf covering his face standing in front of her.  When she began to cross the street, he followed her, yelling to her to stop and threatening her.  The man grabbed her purse and struck her before fleeing east on Springfield Avenue with the purse.

The woman was evaluated by the Maplewood Fire Department but refused medical attention.

Other incidents from this week’s Maplewood Police blotter include:

October 24, 2016; Theft from Auto; During the overnight hours, cash was removed from an unsecured vehicle parked on Girard Pl.

October 26, 2015; Burglary; Between 9 AM and 9:45 AM a home on S. Pierson Rd was forcibly entered. The proceeds of the burglary were not known at the time of the report.
