Forget the onions? Need some milk? egg nog? flour? gravy? cranberry sauce? Here’s a rundown of openings and closings for local supermarkets on Thanksgiving Day:
- Kings Super Market in Maplewood will be open 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day.
- Trader Joe’s is closed.
- Whole Foods Millburn-Union is open 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day.
- Stop & Shop in Union is open until 5 p.m. on Thanksgiving — as is the brand new Stop n Shop on Valley Street in South Orange (7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thanksgiving; open ’til 11 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 25).
- ShopRite of Union (Rte 22) is open from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day.
- Ashley Marketplace, will be open on Thanksgiving from 7 AM to 5 PM for your last minute food shopping needs. They also have free delivery for all orders $25 or more.
- Everyone’e favorite kitchen store, Kitchen a la Mode, will be open until 9 p.m. on Wednesday.
Looking for a last minute dining options?
Verjus on Springfield Avenue in Maplewood has booked all its seatings between 3:15 and 6:15 p.m. But you might give them a call in case there are cancellations: (973) 378-8990.
And Verjus isn’t the only game in town: In South Orange, Above Restaurant & Bar and The Table will be serving dinner, and The Village Diner will be open until 5 p.m. on Thanksgiving; Bunny’s bar will open at 7 p.m., no food service. Mara’s Care and Bakery will be open 7 a.m. to 12 p.m. for last minute desserts on Thanksgiving. Charlie Brown’s Steakhouse in Millburn is also open (11:30 a.m. to 11 p.m.). Moonshine Supper Club is serving from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Martini Bistro & Bar in Millburn is open from 1-5 p.m. on Thanksgiving.
According to TAPintoSOMA.net, the Maplewood Leaf Diner at 165 Maplewood Avenue will be open from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. and the Park Wood Diner on Springfield Avenue will be open from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m.
