Friends and family of beloved Open Door Nursery School teacher Irene Dolansky gathered this morning to celebrate her life at a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Rose of Lima Church in Short Hills, NJ.

Irene (Bufo) Dolansky, 78, died at home, surrounded by her family, on May 2, 2016.

After the mass at St. Rose, interment will follow at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery.

“Mrs. D” taught the four-year-old class at Open Door Nursery School in Millburn, N.J., for 44 years, shaping the lives of many youngsters in Millburn, Maplewood, South Orange and environs and becoming a friend of many families.

“Rest in peace, Mrs. D. We have such fond memories of your kindness and love for our littlest students. This is a great loss for our Open Door community!” wrote former Open Door parent Lisa Gillette in a tribute to Dolansky on Facebook.

Dolansky is survived by her husband Richard, her children — Laurene, Janene, Erick and Rick — and her three grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Dolansky’s name may be made to Center for Hope, Father Hudson House, 111 DeHart Pl., Elizabeth, NJ 07202.
