On Sunday, June 12, husband and wife Ben Salmon and Emily Cooper are co-hosting a meet and greet with U.S. Senator Cory Booker at Ricalton’s Village Tavern from 4-6 p.m. South Orange Village President Sheena Collum will be on hand to welcome Senator Booker.
“I consider this a coup for downtown South Orange!” wrote Ben Salmon on Facebook.

Salmon is well known in South Orange as a business owner (Kitchen a la Mode) and business leader (Vice Chair of the South Orange Village Center Alliance Board of Directors).
The exclusive event is not cheap. To keep the event intimate but raise the goal of $20,000, the minimum donation is $500 per person. The event attendance will be capped at 60.
“I absolutely know this isn’t for everyone and I’m sorry if it’s beyond your financial capabilities,” wrote Salmon, “but I’ve been assured this won’t be the last event and if this is a success, we should be able to do something with a lower barrier to entry down the road. If you can’t make it, but can lend us your support by making any size donation, your contribution will count to a future event… And I’d be really grateful!”
Salmon continued: “Personally, I believe Senator Booker is going places and is going to be a big part of the future of the Democratic Party. He usually draws crowds of thousands when he speaks; we are capping attendance at just 60 guests. Hear him speak (let me know what you’d like him to talk about) and have the opportunity to ask questions. This will be his only event like this in New Jersey this month! For Hillary Clinton fans, it’s worth noting that Cory Booker was one of the first people to endorse her and has been one of her top surrogates for the campaign.”
“I’m really excited to have the opportunity to host Senator Booker in South Orange and shine a spotlight on our Village.”
