From the South Orange Village Center Alliance:

Saturday, December 12 is the date for our annual Hometown Holiday celebration!

The day begins at 1:30 over at the firehouse, where Santa will hold court along with his elves for pictures with the kids. (Will Santa be in shorts this year? With this weather I think that is entirely possible.)  There will also be free refreshments, live tunes from Mark Murphy’s Music, dance routines by the kids from the Maria Priadka School of Dance, and, for all the kids’ parents, free 2-hour parking anywhere downtown.

The line for pictures will close at 4:30 p.m. and then at 5:00 p.m., all the kids will be given free elf hats and will be invited to join Santa and the other elves for the elf parade — a march up South Orange Avenue to the PNC Bank Building for the tree lighting ceremony. The ceremony will take place at 5:15 p.m. with live music from the Clarity Brass Ensemble. This is always a wonderful event, and unlike some of the malls, you don’t have to pay Santa to get a picture of him with your kids. We hope to see you on Saturday.

Hometown Holiday is sponsored by our friends from The Lichtman-Rabney Team at Keller Williams and by Provident Bank and is produced by the South Orange Village Center Alliance and the Baird.  Speaking of the Baird, you can now register for their great winter classes by clicking here.
