Sheldon Low at TSTI

Singer-songwriter and educator Sheldon Low was the scholar-in-residence at Temple Sharey Tefilo-Israel (TSTI) in South Orange during the weekend of March 27.

Low led the Reform synagogue community in song and prayer with a family-friendly service on Friday night, and congregants of all ages sang along as he performed many of his original melodies. He also sang and spent time talking with the temple’s religious school students on Sunday.

Low performs widely for youth audiences and Jewish communities throughout North America. His residency was part of TSTI’s tradition of hosting leading Jewish musicians for a weekend each year. In addition to performing, Low is a founding faculty member of Songleader Bootcamp and started Hallelu Records, an independent Jewish record label, in 2013.

Temple Sharey Tefilo-Israel, located at 432 Scotland Road in South Orange, NJ, offers Jewish preschool, Religious school, teen programs, lifelong learning for adults, and a full complement of religious services and cultural programs each month. TSTI serves member families from Maplewood, the Oranges, Livingston, Millburn, Short Hills and surrounding areas. For more information, visit www.tsti.org.
