South Orange will be holding a Land Use Workshop at the Baird on Wednesday, June 12, 2019 at 7 p.m. as part of the ongoing South Orange Master Plan process.
“A Master Plan guides the use of lands within the municipality in a manner which protects public health and safety and promotes the general welfare, etc.,” wrote Village President Sheena Collum when the Master Plan process kicked off more than a year ago. “We’re talking land use, housing, affordable housing, parking, circulation, facilities, parks and recreation, historic preservation, economic development, sustainability, environment, open space, etc. The last comprehensive Master Plan done by the municipality was completed before I was born.”
The June 12 workshop will build on previous Master Plan workshops to discuss different issues regarding land use, zoning, and more.
Everyone who lives in or visits South Orange is invited to participate.
The Master Plan is expected to be drafted and completed later this year, with adoption by the Township projected for December 2019. See the timeline here.
The South Orange Master Plan process is being led by William Kurzenberger of Topology.
