Congregation Beth El on Irvington Avenue in South Orange is collecting bottles of water to send to residents of Flint, Michigan where lead leaching into the water supply from aging pipes has caused serious health issues for residents.

Rabbi Jesse Olitzky reports that Beth El is setting up a collection site to collect bottled water to add to water collected by groups in Newark (where the idea originated locally). The collection will continue until February 5, at which time the water will be shipped to Flint.

Drop off locations are at both entrances to the building at 222 Irvington Avenue —  the sanctuary entrance and the administrative entrance.

Drop off hours are:

  • 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday
  • 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday
  • 9 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Sunday
