South Orange residents are invited to participate in weeding and planting bulbs along the Rahway River this Saturday, November 8 at 11 a.m., organized by the South Orange River Greenway Committee.

The group will meet at the Baird Center on Mead Street in South Orange at 11 a.m. Volunteers are advised to wear long sleeve shirts and long pants and bring work gloves.

Local residents will be joined by students from Seton Hall University who will participate as part of their “Service on Saturdays” program. The students and other volunteers will help fight the ongoing battle against invasive species along the river banks near Meadowlands park as well as planting bulbs for several types of flowers to bloom in the Spring. The group will be supervised by the River Greenway Committee.

The Seton Hall students have already pitched in on two Saturdays (September 27 and October 25). This is their third and final “Service on Saturdays” event.
