On September 24, the South Orange Village Board of Trustees awarded a $150K contract to H3 Hardy Collaboration Architecture LLC for “architectural consulting services associated with the planning, design and contract administration of the renovation, rehabilitation, repair and improvements of the South Orange municipal library complex.”
The contract award follows on a 2013 planning process for the renovation of the library. The plan is to connect the two library buildings (the main building and the Connett Building, which had its roof replaced a couple of years ago), explore moving municipal offices to the main library, explore a structured parking garage in the municipal lot beside the library, and update the library overall to meet 21st century needs and programming.
The Township has received grants toward this end and hopes to benefit from the state ballot question last fall that set aside millions for library construction projects.
Trustee Karen Hilton explained that the Township had received 20 responses to its Request for Proposals (RFP). Five finalists were interviewed before Hardy 3 was selected.

The total cost of the contract is $152,984.66.
