Village President Sheena Collum is having a birthday party — and you’re invited.

Collum is following her tradition from last year and hosting a shindig open to the public, at Ricalton’s Village Tavern on Friday, November 18. The “catch”? To gain admittance, partygoers are asked to bring food to donate to the Food Pantry at Our Lady of Sorrows Church in South Orange. (Financial donations are also welcome; Collum stresses there is no minimum donation of either food or money to attend).

“All are welcome, it’ll be a fun night with friends and neighbors for a great cause,” said Collum. “Especially as we approach the holidays, I think it’s important for all of us to recognize how many of our fellow residents are without food. And even with the results of the recent Presidential election, I strongly feel there’s a heightened sensitivity of wanting to help others who are in need.”

Last year, Collum’s birthday party raised more than $1,500 for the South Orange Rescue Squad.

For details — and what items are most in need — see the full invitation below or on Facebook. PLEASE RSVP ON THE FACEBOOK PAGE.

It’s that time of year again for some food, fun & friends – hope you can join! We’ve got hors d’oeuvres, desserts and a cash bar and maybe I’ll do some stand up comedy. Special thanks to Ricaltons!

In lieu of gifts, this year I’m partnering with The Food Pantry at Our Lady of Sorrows. OLS is a MEND Food Pantry – MEETING EMERGENCY NEEDS WITH DIGNITY.
