Lawn Worker Robbed and Assaulted in South Orange

An East Orange man doing yard work at a house on South Stanley Road on June 19 at around 1 p.m. was approached by a man and a woman who asked to use his cell phone. When the worker turned his back to retrieve his phone, the man and woman assaulted him from behind and took his wallet, according to South Orange Police. The man was described as black, in his late teens with a short afro style hair cut, wearing jeans and a black t-shirt. The woman was described as black, also in her late teens, with short dreads and was wearing jeans. The Detective Bureau is investigating the incident.

6/26/2015
Criminal mischief
A Hamilton Rd. resident stated that at approximately 2:00am on 6-26-15 an unknown actor had broken the glass to a rear sliding door of his dwelling. Responding officers canvassed the area with negative results. The Detective Bureau is investigating the incident.

Theft from vehicle
A Highland Rd. resident stated that sometime during the overnight hours of 6-24-15 an unknown actor(s) entered her unlocked vehicle (2010 Toyota) and removed a GPS unit.

Theft of bicycle/arrests
On 6-25-15 a 17 year old juvenile from Newark was arrested along with three other juveniles after a Detective on routine unmarked patrol observed the juveniles enter a rear yard on Cottage St. and remove a bicycle. All of the juveniles were taken into custody, transported to police headquarters and processed accordingly.

Theft from vehicle
A Highland Rd. resident stated that sometime during the overnight hours of 6-24-15 an unknown actor entered her unlocked vehicle (2011 Acura) which was parked in her driveway and removed approximately $30 in cash. Also recovered in the vehicle was a GPS unit belonging to another resident of Highland Rd.

Theft of bicycle
A South Orange resident stated sometime between 8:00am and 6:00pm on 6-25-15 an unknown actor(s) had stolen his men’s bicycle that was locked to the bike rack at the main train station.

6/25/2015
Theft of bicycles
Sometime during the daytime or early evening hours of 6-24-15 two bicycles that were chained to the bike rack were removed by an unknown actor(s). One was a female’s bike unknown model and the second bicycle was a 26″ silver and black Men’s Schwinn.

Theft of vehicle
A Glenside Rd. resident stated that sometime during the overnight hours of 6-23-15 an unknown actor(s) had removed his vehicle (2011 Mercedes) from his driveway. The victim stated that he had left the keys to the vehicle inside of same

Chain snatch
A Maplewood resident stated that she was walking on Irvington Ave. on 6-20-15 at approximately 5:35pm in the area of the stores near Fairview Ave. when an unknown black male described as approximately 18 years of age having a tall thin build and was observed to be wearing a blue t-shirt snatched a chain from her neck. Once the actor grabbed the necklace from the victim he fled on foot west on Irvington Ave. The Detective Bureau is investigating the incident.

Theft of bag
A victim stated that on 6-18-15 at approximately 6:15pm he stopped to place a phone call in front of the PNC building and in doing so he placed his shoulder bag down on the ground. When he turned back to look at it he discovered it had been stolen. The bag contained numerous personal items including cash.

Theft from vehicle
A Speir Dr. resident stated that sometime during the overnight hours of 6-17-15 an unknown actor(s) had entered his unlocked vehicle (2011 Jeep) and removed two watches from his glove box.

Theft of vehicle
A Stirling Dr. East resident stated that sometime during the overnight hours of 6-17-15 an unknown actor(s) had removed his white GMC work van from his driveway.

Theft from vehicle
An Underhill Rd. resident stated that sometime during the overnight hours of 6-17-15 an unknown actor(s) had entered her unlocked vehicle (2011 Audi) that was parked in her driveway and removed several items including an I-pad, sunglasses and a leather purse

Burglary to vehicle
A Harding Dr. resident stated that sometime during the overnight hours of 6-17-15 an unknown actor(s) had entered his unlocked vehicle (2013 Inf) however, no items were removed because the resident had the center console and the glove box locked.

Theft from vehicles
Two unlocked vehicles on Harding Drive, a 2015 BMW and a 2014 Cadillac were entered during the overnight hours of 6-17-15 and a cell phone and gym bag were removed.

Theft from vehicle
A Harding Dr. resident stated that sometime during the overnight hours of 6-17-15 an unknown actor(s) had entered her unlocked vehicle (2006 Toyota) which was parked in the driveway and removed some change from the center console.
