Red Cross Lifeguard Certification Course at South Orange Pool

From the South Orange Recreation Department: 

A Red Cross Lifeguard Certification course is being offered at the South Orange Pool for members 15 years and older. This is a full certification course that will include necessary lifeguard safety and rescue skills, first aid and CPR. Upon successful completion of this course, participants will be eligible for employment as a lifeguard.

Course fees include $240 to Maplewood Recreation upon registration and $35 payable online directly to the Red Cross for course access and account creation.

When: Monday, August 10 through Friday, August 14
Where: South Orange Community Pool
Time: 7:00am – 12:00pm

Registrants MUST be 15 years of age or older.

JUNIOR LIFEGUARD PROGRAM

The South Orange Community Pool is pleased to offer a Junior Lifeguard program for members ages 12 to 14. The program will include 4 days/dates – Saturday and Sunday, August 8-9 and August 15-16, from 8:00 am to 9:30 am. The fee is $20 per participant. Over the 2 weekends, participants will learn water safety and basic lifeguarding skills and participate in games and contests designed to bolster their swimming skills and foster camaraderie and teamwork. This program will be under the supervision of Marc Calello, the Assistant Pool Manager, with the help of our senior guard staff.
