With 32 of 33 districts in Maplewood and South Orange posting results, Liz Callahan and Will Meyer — along with Kevin Diaz — have won the three seats up for election on the South Orange-Maplewood Board of Education. On November 4, challenger Trish Azeez issued this concession statement:

Patricia Azeez
South Orange and Maplewood,
Thank you to everyone who voted for me, supported my campaign, and believed in my vision for our schools. While we didn’t get the outcome we wanted, I am deeply grateful for this experience.
Congratulations to Liz Callahan, Will Meyer, and Kevin Diaz. I wish you success as you take on the important work of serving our students and community.
To every volunteer who knocked on doors, handed out palm cards, hosted gatherings, displayed lawn signs, spoke to neighbors on my behalf, or donated — thank you! I was incredibly moved by your generosity and have come away with a deeper appreciation for what community truly means. A special thank you to my husband and children for supporting me through this journey, especially during a time of so much change for our family.
I ran for the Board because I believe every child deserves the opportunity to unlock their full potential. That belief hasn’t changed. Our students deserve high expectations, meaningful support, and teachers who have the resources they need to help every child succeed.
While the campaign is over, my commitment to our children and our community is not. I look forward to continue working with community members to ensure all children in our district have the opportunities to do their best.
