The South Orange Dolphins Swim Team is halfway to its goal of raising $10,000 towards a fund for the sons of Monet Armenia.
Armenia lost her battle with Stage 4 breast cancer last week after a valiant fight that included raising more than $40,000 for alternative treatment options.
The Dolphins held a special Swim-a-Thon for Monet on Wednesday, July 23 at the South Orange Community Pool.
“It was very positive,” said Dolphins Coach Claudia Minde. “It was good for the kids to feel like they’re doing something.”
Although $5,000 has been collected, Minde expects to make the goal of $10,000 as swimmers collect their sponsors’ pledges. Others can donate to the cause by sending checks made out to “Monet Armenia” to 249 Audley Street, South Orange, NJ 07079.
