Maplewood Police Arrest South Orange Teen in Jacoby St. Robbery

Maplewood Police arrested a 14-year-old boy from South Orange and a 16-year-old boy from Newark and charged them with robbery connected with an incident that took place last Wednesday.

At around 11:00 p.m., a 19-year-old man was approached by the two teens on the 70s block of Jacoby Street, according to Sgt. Christopher Black. The two allegedly struck the man once and unsuccessfully attempted to take items out of his pockets before running away. Officers responded to the area and found the two teens, arrested them and charged them both with robbery, Black said. The man did not require any medical attention.

November 26, 2015; Attempted Motor Vehicle Theft; At approximately 9 PM a Dodge parked on Fernwood Rd sustained damage to the door and ignition consistent with an attempted theft.

November 27, 2015; Robbery; At approximately 7:15 PM a shoplifter was stopped as they attempted to leave the Extra Supermarket on Irvington Ave. A scuffle ensued and the shoplifter fled the scene. Officers responded and were able to locate the shoplifter. He was identified as 49 year old Harold Goines of East Orange. He was taken into custody and charged with robbery.
