Maplewood Township begins its 2016 budget process this Saturday, January 9 at 9 a.m. at Town Hall.

Residents can attend the meeting at 574 Valley Street, watch it live on television, view it later on the town’s YouTube channel, and/or email questions to the Township Committee before, during or after the meeting.

On Jan. 9, Mayor Vic DeLuca will outline the budget process, and department heads will then present their budget requests and challenges before the Township Committee. Departments featured on Jan. 9 include Police, Fire, Health, Recreation/Cultural Affairs, the Maplewood Library and more. (See the agenda attached below.)

Public comment comes late in the meeting — at 3 p.m. if everyone stays on schedule — but residents can email the Township Committee before or during the meeting with questions and observations at askthetc@twp.maplewood.nj.us. Assistant Township Administrator Cesar Correa will review any questions that come in and bring them to the attention of the TC.

The TC will hold a second budget meeting on Saturday, Jan. 23 at 9 a.m. featuring department heads and organizations (such as Public Works, the Maplewood Village Alliance, Springfield Avenue Partnership and the Community Coalition on Race) that did not present on Jan. 9.

Members of the public can email their questions to be answered during the meeting at askthetc@twp.maplewood.nj.us.

Residents can watch the meeting live online here.

Meetings are also broadcast live — thanks to SOMA tv — on Fios Channel 24 and Comcast Channel 35.
