On January 13 at around 10 p.m., a 20-year-old Maplewood man was walking on Boyden Avenue near Hughes St. when he was allegedly pushed and struck by a group of five teenage boys, said Sgt. Christopher Black of the Maplewood Police Dept. One of the boys showed a handgun and demanded the man’s belongings. The group ran away with the man’s cell phone and cash, said Black. Officers checked the area and were able to find four teens matching the description in Irvington who were allegedly in possession of an air soft gun. The four, ages 13-16, three from Newark and one from Irvington, were identified and taken into custody, Black said. The man refused any medical treatment and was not seriously injured.
