Maplewood Lacrosse Club picked a good game to visit Rutgers Lacrosse, as the Scarlet Knights upset Penn State at High Point Solutions Stadium last night, taking the Friendship Cup and securing a spot in the Big Ten Tournament.
Particularly thrilling for the local lacrosse team: the opportunity to see a dazzling display by Maplewood’s own Jules Heningburg.
Rutgers made the game exciting, falling behind 6-1 in the first quarter, tying it at 7-7 by the half, then falling behind again 13-9 in the third quarter, before rallying for a thrilling come-from-behind victory of 15-14.
Heningburg scored a career-high 6 goals and had 2 assists. The sophomore attacker is having an outstanding season. See his statistics here.
