With the summer season just around the corner, South Orange is in full warm-weather swing. Here’s a taste of what the Village has to offer this time of year — some events are already going on, others are coming soon:
Downtown After Sundown
Every Friday and Saturday night brings live music to downtown. Free concerts are at two locations, Sloan Street and Spiotta Park, from 7 – 10 p.m., weather permitting, Memorial Day through Labor Day.
Farmers Market
Mark the date: the market returns to South Orange June 4 and runs every Wednesday from 2pm to 7pm on 1st Street at Sloan (between the Firehouse and the Sloan Street Lot). Enjoy produce, prepared foods, pickles, dried fruit and nuts, breads and pies, fish and meats.
Concerts in the Park
July 2 is the kick off to this beloved tradition of live music on Wednesdays in Flood’s Hill. Dates are July 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30 at 7:30 p.m. Concerts are free and food and drink are available for purchase. Here’s the line up:

Concerts take place at Flood’s Hill in Meadowland Park, 70 North Ridgewood Road. In the event of rain, concerts take place indoors at the South Orange Performing Arts Center (SOPAC). Presented by the Village of South Orange, The Baird and SOPAC, sponsored by Maplecrest Ford Lincoln.
Movies in the Park
Vote for the films you would like to see screened at this summer’s Movies in the Park!
Back for the second year by popular demand, this free, outdoor movie series is presented by SOPAC in cooperation with the Village of South Orange and The Baird.
Three outdoor films will be screened at Flood’s Hill in Meadowland Park Wednesday, Aug. 13, 20, and 27 at 7:45PM. The first film is E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial (1982).
