The following is from Maplewood Library:
Did you know that almost 20,000 people have a Maplewood Library card? That’s an impressive number for our small town. It’s no surprise the library is so popular: Sure, cardholders can borrow books, movies, magazines and audiobooks. However, you don’t even have to leave home to take advantage of having a card: the resources available electronically are outstanding. With a resident Maplewood Library card you can stream movies, TV shows, and music. You can download e-books and access dozens of databases, including the Rosetta Stone language program. Additionally, programs are offered for adults, teens and children at both the Main Library and Hilton Branch, and Hilton’s Create Space has become the go-to place for Maker projects.
Maplewood Library is a member of the BCCLS consortium, which consists of 77 libraries in Northern New Jersey. The collections of all those libraries are shared—giving you access to nearly 6 million items! This means that if Maplewood Library doesn’t have an item you want, they can easily get it for you through the consortium.
New library cardholders are welcome year-round, but every adult, teen or child who signs up in September will receive a free gift. Anyone who lives or works in Maplewood, or who attends school in the SOMa district, is entitled to a card. (Children under 18 will require a parent’s signature.) Simply bring proof of residence or employment, or a school ID to the circulation desk at Main Library or Hilton Branch, get your free gift, and take advantage of everything Maplewood Library has to offer!
