Enjoy a free, fun night at the Montclair Art Museum (MAM), Thursday, Dec. 4 from 5 – 9 p.m. Held the first Thursday of the month from Oct.- June, First Thursdays attract around 600 people each month with free admission, a full-service bar and a variety of music and art.
Tonight, hear special musical performances from the Newark Boys Chorus and Silver Fox Songs Quartet. The Chorus will perform holiday songs at 6 p.m. in MAM’s Leir Hall and the quartet is playing jazz and soul standards from the 1930s through the 60s in galleries throughout the museum.
While you’re there, fit in some holiday shopping. The Store at MAM will offer handcrafted silver jewelry by Andrea Schettino, fine porcelain ceramics by Cynthia Shevelew, Himalyan hand-embroidered pillows from the collection of Dr. Jay Sethi, scarves from the Parisian company Princesse & Dragon, works by local artist Dan Fenelon and more.
Also be sure to catch From Heart to Hand: African-American Quilts from the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts, as well as a new student exhibition.
Create your own art at the Yard School of Art drop-in Draw Along Workshop, for artists of all ages. This month there will be a kid’s holiday themed workshop. The MAM Family Learning Lab will also be open that evening with self-directed art activities that explore the current exhibitions.
