The following is from the South Orange Performing Arts Center:

The Indigo Girls (Amy Ray and Emily Saliers) will be appearing at South Orange Performing Arts Center on October 28 at 10:30 p.m. This performance was added after the first show sold out in record time.

“We are excited to be presenting the Indigo Girls and grateful they agreed to perform a second show,” noted SOPAC’s Executive Director Mark Packer. “There really is no better place to enjoy the artistry of these fine artists than in the intimate SOPAC theatre with its excellent acoustics.”

In the 1980s, the Indigo Girls blazed their way to the top of the charts in a trajectory that was remarkable for its “against-the-odds” path to success. A female singer-songwriter folk-rock duo was not the typical act to hit the top 10 in modern rock music charts, but the Indigo Girls transcended any expectations. They were awarded a 1990 Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Folk Album, and a nomination in the Best New Artist category. Fans will know them for hits “Closer to Fine,” “Galileo” and “Hammer and Nail.”

After more than two decades in the business, Saliers and Ray have remained true to their vision of creating authentic and deeply personal songs for the enjoyment of their fans. Their latest album, One Lost Day, was released last year on the Vanguard Label.
