The South Orange Performing Arts Center is inviting all Maplewood and South Orange residents ages 55 and up to a free performance by classical pianist Jiayan Sun on Sunday, Jan. 18.

According to a SOPAC spokesperson, “a generous sponsor has made a limited amount of seats available on a complimentary basis to senior citizens in the SOMA area to the performance of Juillard @ SOPAC, Jiayan Sun, piano on Sun, Jan 18 at 3 p.m.”

Call the box office (973) 313-2787 in advance of the performance to reserve a seat with the code SOSCOMP.

Praised for his “technically flawless, poetically inspired and immensely assured playing” (Toronto Star), pianist Jiayan Sun has performed extensively in the United States and China. He has performed frequently with The Hallé, Chinese National Symphony Orchestra, RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra, Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, Toronto Concert Orchestra, Aspen Concert Orchestra, Chinese Youth Orchestra, Shandong Symphony Orchestra, Qingdao Symphony Orchestra, among others.

Sun has collaborated with prominent conductors such as Sir Mark Elder, Leon Fleisher, Xincao Li, David Hayes, Kerry Stratton, and Jinyi Jiang. He has concertized at Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center in New York, National Concert Hall in Dublin, Leeds Town Hall, Royal Conservatory’s Koerner Hall in Toronto, Beijing Concert Hall and Beijing University Concert Hall, Taipei National Concert Hall, and many others. His performances have been broadcasted on BBC, RTÉ, China Central Television, and Toronto Classical Music Radio Station.
