Are the Academy Awards whetting your appetite for great movies?
Well, we’ve got just the ticket for you. Local cinephiles can win a free subscription to REEL TALK, a new world-class film series featuring cutting-edge independent cinema that will make its debut at Bow Tie Cinemas in the South Orange Performing Arts Center on March 15.
Some of the films featured could be next year’s Oscars contenders. Already it has been announced that Reel Talk will be screening While We’re Young, directed by Noah Baumbach (The Squid and the Whale) and starring Naomi Watts, Amanda Seyfried and Ben Stiller; Far from the Madding Crowd, directed by Thomas Vinterberg from the Thomas Hardy novel and starring Carey Mulligan; plus shorts from Columbia University film students.
Reel Talk runs for eight consecutive weeks beginning on Sunday, March 15. The screenings will take place at 11 a.m. and feature a continental breakfast. Currently, there are 16 films profiled on the Reel Talk website — all of which are slated for theatrical release later this year — from which the eight films will be chosen. Visitors to the website can vote for the films they’d like included in the series.
