Woolley Home Solutions — Maplewood oldest and longest continuously operating business — celebrated 95 years last week.
Woolley Fuel was started in 1924 by brothers Herbert and Norman W. Woolley Sr. as a coal company and has been an evolving energy company ever since. Changes over the years include moving from coal to home heating oil, adding plumbing services, natural gas service, and, in 2008, a biodiesel station open to the public. Woolley has also expanded its service area to move far beyond Maplewood. Norman E. Woolley now helms the company as the the fourth generation of Woolleys in the business.
On Friday, May 17, the Woolleys and their employees were joined by Maplewood Mayor Vic DeLuca, Maplewood Chamber President Diana Galer, Springfield Avenue Partnership Director Julie Doran and other Township business leaders to celebrate the milestone.
