Maplewood’s favorite diner (and one of New Jersey’s best) is at it again.
Pete and Fifi Kikianis of the Park Wood Diner provided dinner free of charge to dozens of senior citizens on Tuesday, March 29, in the hall at St. Joseph’s Church in Maplewood.
Pete and Fifi and the Park Wood have done this before — notably at their annual Holiday dinner at the Maplewood Senior Building on Irvington Avenue.
Editor’s note: We just discovered that the band that played the event was Band of Strays, and it was their first gig! Band of Strays is comprised of current and former residents of Maplwood/South Orange: Lou Ledesma, Chip Thompson, Bill “The Thrill” Grafton, Betsy Porter Joseph, Patty Ledesma. “We are a group of friends enjoying playing music together, and are focused on having fun and look forward to playing more locally,” the band stated in the briefest of releases.
