Annemarie Maini Wins Re-Election to South Orange-Maplewood Board of Ed

Situated in first place over 10 other candidates on the ballot with 97% of votes counted, Annemarie Maini won re-election to the South Orange-Maplewood Board of Education on November 6.

She will serve another three-year term, beginning in January 2019.

With 97% of districts counted, Maini had garnered 5,878 votes. She was followed in second place by Shannon Cuttle with 5,833 votes. Maini’s running mate Javier Farfan was in third place with 4,831 votes — just 36 votes ahead of a Narda Chisholm-Green in 4th place.

Reached by Village Green late Tuesday night, Maini offered the following brief statement: “Thank you to all the volunteers who worked tirelessly in the pursuit of equity and excellence for all our children. I look forward to continuing the work of the board and administration and I look forward to meeting with all of you to continue great conversations. I am committed to the challenging and worthwhile work of unifying our community and finding common ground.”

Maini promised more when the final results were tallied.

Maini first won election to the Board of Ed in 2016 with running mate Chris Sabin. Sabin opted not to run for re-election.
