It’s Official: Cuttle, Maini and Farfan Win Seats on South Orange-Maplewood Board of Ed

It’s been two weeks since election day, but the results of the South Orange-Maplewood Board of Education election are now final and certified. The winners? Shannon Cuttle, Annemarie Maini and Javier Farfan.

While Cuttle and Maini were clear winners  on election night — both had significant leads over the remainder of the field of candidates — the third place finish was too close to call. Javier Farfan, who ran with Maini, had 123 more votes than Narda Chisholm-Greene before provisional ballots were counted.

It was reported (to Maini by the Clerk’s office) that more than 10,000 provisional ballots were cast in Essex County. Those ballots needed to be validated and counted before an official tally could be certified and posted.

With all ballots counted, Farfan’s lead has grown to 162 in the final tally, according to the Essex County Clerk’s website. A staff member at the Clerk’s office verified that the results posted are complete, official and final.

Village Green has reached out to Farfan and Greene for statements and will update this story when they are received.
