May 5, 2018 @ 12:00 pm - May 6, 2018 @ 12:00 pm
FreeSouth Orange Village Center Alliance (SOVCA) is kicking off the 2nd Annual 24 hours of live music throughout the Village Center this weekend. Starting with a media event at the iconic gazebo on Sloan Street at Noon on Saturday, May 5th and running until Noon on May 6st, the live music marathon will feature blues, rock, R&B, jazz, pop, and more in venues both indoors and outdoors, from parks to restaurants to street corners.
This year 24 Hours of Live Music will be part of the ArtsUnbound fundraiser, the Artbenderweekend project designed to support artistic opportunities for people with disabilities. That’s right musicians will be creating music all 24 hours and hope you come on by, listen to some great music, and help us in a really great cause.
This year will include almost 12 hours of jazz at the South Orange Gazebo culminating with a 4 hour jazz jam where jazz musicians and vocalists are invited to come on out and jam. In addition to live bands all day, other special events are an early afternoon Drum Circle, a later noon Karaoke hour where the community is invited to come on out and sing your best, an evening 2 hour DJ Dance Party where all are invited to come shake and dance your feet off. Overnight into the wee hours of the morning you can come listen to some easy listening music, enjoy some shaking, rattle and moaning at the Gazebo at 1 AM, then into some easy jazz music till 6 AM , we round out Sunday morning with some r&b,, some popular music and close out the final two hours with some local blues heavy hitters.
