Allman Brothers biographer Alan Paul and Big in china pay tribute to drummer Butch Trucks
February 10, 2017 @ 8:30 pm - February 11, 2017 @ 12:00 am
The sudden death of Allman Brothers Band drummer Butch Trucks rocked their fan base. Last week, the band’s biographer Alan Paul led his band Big in China through a guest-jammed tribute show that packed Suzy Que’s and left everyone feeling better. The feedback was so positive that the band has decided to leap right back in.
“The show was cathartic for me and many who were there told me the same thing – so we decided to do it again,” says Paul, the author of the New York Times bestseller One Way Out: An Inside History of the Allman Brothers Band. “Allmans fans really needed that – but so did so many others who have been struggling for several very stressful months. Playing music is all about being in the moment and suspending your other concerns. We aim to create a community of musicians and listeners at every performance and it really all clicked last week. Is that replicable? I look forward to finding out!”
Join us for a night of special guests as we honor Butch with the music of the Allman Brothers Band, Grateful Dead, BB King, Bobby “Blue” Bland, Van Morrison, Bob Dylan and others.
As always, no cover! Reservations recommended to make sure you get in the front room.
